The Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish is also known as the False Percula Clownfish, False Clown Anemonefish, and Anemone Demoiselle. The Ocellaris Clownfish may be one of the aquarium industry's most popular marine fish.

Its beautiful orange body dressed with white bands outlined in black instantly distinguishes the Ocellaris Clownfish. It is laterally compressed, with a round profile, a stocky appearance and an oval shape. These tank bred clownfish grow to a maximum size of 3 inches in the aquarium, and may be kept singly or in groups.

Clownfish are reef safe and can be kept with non aggressive invertebrates and corals, and most clowns will host an anemone present in the tank. It can be found individually, or more commonly, in pairs or small groups within the same anemone such as Heteractis Magnifica or Stichodactyla Mertensii. Captive-bred fish can also be less likely to use a host anemone than wild-caught fish.

The Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish does best, housed in an aquarium of at least 20 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock. This member of the Pomacentridae family is an excellent addition to almost any saltwater aquarium system.

Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish are very hardy and more adapted to home aquarium conditions. Therefore, it makes a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike. The Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish can also be kept with a variety of other captive-bred clownfish, if introduced into the aquarium at the same time. They do extremely well in the aquarium and are very peaceful.

The Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish is also easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair and the two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. The Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish is an egg layer and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface and defend the eggs from other tankmates.

Clownfish are generally not fussy eaters, and will accept a range of frozen and prepared foods like flakes, pellets, and frozen formulas. They can benefit from some plant matter in their diet, although they are not considered herbivores and do need some meaty foods.
