Snowflake Clownfish are popular variants of Amphiprion Ocellaris that have a considerable amount of irregular white markings on the body. The edges of the white coloration will typically be jagged and angular. Each Snowflake is evaluated by an experienced grader for the percentage of white and the attractiveness of the striping.

This member of the Pomacentridae family is an excellent addition to almost any saltwater aquarium system. The Snowflake Clownfish does best, housed in an aquarium of at least 20 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock. Captive-bred fish have a unique advantage over wild-harvested species, as they are generally very hardy and more accustomed to conditions found in the home aquarium. Therefore, captive-bred fishes make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike.

Snowflake Clownfish are reef safe and can be kept with non aggressive invertebrates and corals, and most clowns will host an anemone present in the tank. These clownfish do not need an Anemone to survive, but will accept many different Anemones as its host, including corals. Their favorite Anemones to call home are the Carpet Anemones Stichodactyla Gigantea or the Magnificent Anemone Heteractis Magnifica.

The Captive-Bred Snowflake Clownfish is easy to breed in the home aquarium.Like all clownfishes, Amphiprion ocellaris is a sequential hermaphrodite. The largest individual present will exert dominance and become reproductively female. The next largest fish will become reproductively male. Remaining smaller individuals are usually tolerated but will not be reproductively active.

Snowflake Clownfish are generally unpretentious in food. Diet should include a variety of frozen and live mysis and brine shrimp as well as spirulina, marine algae, nori, and algae based foods, 2-3 times daily.
