Amphiprion Sebae, also known as the Sebae Clownfish, is an anemonefish found in the northern Indian Ocean, from Java to the Arabian Peninsula.
The body of Amphiprion Sebae is blackish or dark brown with a yellow snout, breast and belly. It has two broad white bars., with the mid-body bar angled backwards. The anal fin is yellow, and it has a white to yellow tail. The mouth is located on the bottom of its body so it can swim in a constant state of feeding at all times. They can grow to 14 centimetres (5.5 in).
Amphiprion Sebae, like all anemonefish, lives in a symbiotic relationship with the host anemone where the fish is unaffected by the stinging tentacles of the anemone.
A 30 gallon or larger aquarium is desirable as is a host anemone such as Bubbletip Sea Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). Sebae Clownfish are very hardy and durable fish making them a perfect addition for the novice or seasoned aquarist.
Sebae Clownfish are typically peaceful. While they share their habitat with other fish and invertebrates, they generally do not fight or chase each other. They can live with any type of fish that is not too aggressive for them. Clownfish are reef safe and can be kept with non-aggressive invertebrates and corals.
Clownfish are easy to breed in the home aquarium. Sebae Clownfish are sequential hermaphrodites. This means that they will first become male, and then if the current one dies or becomes female, it can switch to being a female. They usually reach sexual maturity at two years of age.
The Sebae Clownfish is an omnivore, which means that it eats both plants and animals. Diet should include a variety of frozen and live mysis and brine shrimp as well as spirulina, marine algae, nori, and algae based foods, 2-3 times daily.
