Springeri Damsel (Chrysiptera Springeri) is a species of damselfish known by the common name Blue Sapphire Damselfish. It is native to the western Pacific Ocean, where it occurs in the tropical waters of Indonesia and the Philippines.

The Blue Sapphire Damselfish is bright blue with black fins. This species can quickly turn completely black when stressed which allows them to evade predators. The ventral and anal fins are also black. These small fish (growing up to 2 inches) can be hard workers in a tank, as the Springeri Damsel is a flat-worm eater.

They should be housed in tanks of at least 30 gallons with some rockwork for them to hide in. Be sure the aquarium has plenty of live rock for territories and hiding.

The Springeri Damsel is hardy and is a good fish for beginners. Like many of the other damselfish within the Chrysiptera genus, it can become aggressive towards slower moving tank mates. As the fish matures it may become aggressive, causing problems with the selection of other species of fish added to the aquarium. If keeping with other damselfish, provide plenty of live rock with multiple hiding places to break up territories and decrease aggression.

These fish are generally not picky eaters. The Damselfish's diet should consist of quality flake foods, frozen meaty foods such as brine or mysis shrimp and occasionally dried seaweed offered on a feeding clip.
