The Flavoguttatus Anthias (Pseudanthias Flavoguttatus), Red Saddled Anthias has a beautifully intricate body coloration pattern.

They feature a pink and yellow speckled body color with a thick white band running along the spine and about six red saddle like spots.

The Flavoguttatus Anthias is a deep-water fish that is well suited for an established reef aquarium. They are best kept in tanks of no less than 70 gallons with moderate lighting conditions. To recreate habitat for the Red Saddled Anthias, aquascape liberally with live rock, creating numerous caves and other hiding places. Be sure to maintain open areas and plenty of surface area for proper water oxygenation.

Once the Red Saddled Anthias has completed its quarantine period and are sturdy enough to introduce to your display aquarium, they will thrive and become peaceful members of your aquarium with other peaceful fish. The Red Saddled Anthias should be introduced into your aquarium before other more active, territorial fishes so they can settle in with limited stress. As with many anthias species, the Red Saddled Anthias can be kept singly but does best in small shoals comprised of several individuals. They can be kept as a mated pair, or in a small school of females. Avoid keeping two males in the same tank, as it can lead to extreme aggression. It is reef safe and is generally disinterested in messing with corals and sessile inverts.

The Flavoguttatus Anthias is hermaphroditic meaning all are born females, and when needed the dominant female turns into male.

As to diet, will eat most regular aquarium foods, e.g., finely chopped various frozen or fresh meaty foods such as mysis, squid, fish flesh, shrimp, clam, etc., and should be offered at least twice daily and dispensed upstream so water currents carry food to their location.

Sometimes difficult to get feeding, and if so, fortified live adult brine shrimp may be necessary until they accept other types of aquarium foods, e.g., frozen foods and fresh marine fish and invertebrate flesh.
