Lemon Damselfish (Pomacentrus Moluccensis), the Golden Damselfish, is a species of bony fish in the family Pomacentridae, from the Western Pacific Ocean. This hardy, mild-mannered Damselfish is a great candidate for nearly any reef aquarium.

Pomacentrus Moluccensis is a deep-bodied, laterally-compressed fish, growing to a length of about 3 inches. The head is slightly longer than it is high, with a large eye and oblique mouth. The teeth are in two series and have rounded tips. This bright yellow Damselfish may display blue lines across its head and fins. As the fish matures the bright yellow coloration begins to diminish slightly and becomes less shy within the aquarium.

The Lemon Damsel requires a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with numerous hiding places. This member of the Pomacentridae family prefers multiple hiding places and peaceful tankmates. In small aquariums, will annoy peaceful tankmates.

Though most Damselfish will ignore other fish, invertebrates, or corals, some may be territorial towards its own kind or similar-sized fish. The Lemon Damsel is best kept in small groups of odd numbered fish in suitably sized systems.

These fish are generally not picky eaters. Even though these fish enjoy a diverse type of frozen foods, it is imperative that its primary food, is algae based, thus ensuring that the fish`s immune system remains healthy. In the aquarium, they will usually feed on flakes and pellets but should also be given fresh or frozen algae and meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, planktons, krill, shrimp, scallop and similar items.
