Many Aquarists run into a problem when the Skimmer Going Crazy.

Often this happens after the use of drugs based on antibiotics. Manufacturers of these drugs recommend doing a 30 percent water change after using them.

Such a substitution will lead to significant changes in the parameters of the water in the Aquarium.

But there is a more gentle way: Changing the Water through a Skimmer.

      1. Turn off the Skimmer.

      2. Disable Auto-Topping.

      3. Prepare Salt Water (5% of the volume of the aquarium).

Many Skimmers have a hole in the bowl to drain the water, If not, make a hole yourself and equip it with a drain tube. Through this tube we will drain the dirty water.

      4. Dip the drain tube from the Skimmer into a bucket.

      5. Turn on the Skimmer and adjust it to the minimum so that the water is slowly drawn in.

The bucket must be below the level of the skimmer bowl.

As the bowl fills, the contaminated water is drained into a bucket.

As dirty water is poured through the skimmer, clean salt water must be added so that the return pump does not suck in air.

This method will solve the problem «Crazy Skimmer» and keep your Aquarium inhabitants healthy, as it will require very little water change and will not lead to significant changes in the water parameters in the Aquarium.
