Tail Spot Blenny (Ecsenius Stigmatura), commonly known as the Tail-Spot Combtooth Blenny, is a blenny from the Western Pacific.
A coppery-coloured fish with a distinct blackish spot at the base of the tail. It has some vibrant colors below the eye which can be made bright pink if threatened. A black and yellow band runs below each eye, aiding them in blending into their surroundings. They are a smaller blenny with very large eyes, and small mouth giving these fish a very comical look. It grows to a size of 6 cm in length.
Like many other reef species, Ecsenius Stigmatura will appreciate a 10 gallon aquarium with plenty of live rock and other decorations. They like to have access to nooks and crannies to hide in, and as bottom dwellers, they will also appreciate a sandy substrate.
This is a delightfully peaceful species that won't bother any of your reef dwellers, with one exception: other blennies (and anything that looks too much like them). It works great as a complement to a peaceful reef and doesn't bother the corals. Avoid larger, carnivorous or overly assertive tankmates. They should not be housed with aggressive species that may intimidate these fish into hiding.
The Tail Spot Blenny is an omnivore, but one that leans towards the herbivorous side. The diet of the Tail Spot Blenny should include vegetable matter, including frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae. It will also feed on (and help control) algae growing in the aquarium. It’s recommended to feed small portions at least twice a day.
