Moyer's Leopard Wrasse (Macropharygondon Moyeri) also known as the Moyeri Leopard Wrasse, is a unique leopard wrasse species native to the waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean.
Boasting a bright and colorful yellow and pink face and a pink and blue shimmering body. These fish grow to about 4 inches.
In the wild, Leopard Wrasses inhabit sand and rubble regions near coral reefs. A 70 gallon or larger aquarium with well-established live rock and a mature sand bed several inches deep is recommended. To best recreate this habitat, be sure to provide large open spaces that allow access to the fine sand bed. Wrasses are prone to jumping from the aquarium when startled or excited so we recommend a secure lid.
The Moyeri Leopard Wrasse will do best when introduced as juveniles in groups of three or more. They do not appreciate living with other species of wrasse, so any aquarium with several species must be large enough and the most peaceful species added first. Due to their relatively shy demeanor they should not be kept with aggressive tank mates. They are coral safe, but larger individuals may attack small invertebrates such as shrimp, snails, urchins, worms, bivalves and serpent stars. They take their time, moving in long, slow motions when targeting their prey.
Moyeri Leopard Wrasse are peaceful, but they are carnivorous creatures. They have very small mouths and may be difficult to feed, so frequent feedings of a wide variety of foods should be offered thorough the day. They would preferably have 4 or 5 small meals a day.
