The Foxface Lo (Siganus Vulpinus), also known as the Foxface Rabbitfish, has a very unique body color. It has a mottled yellow-brown body with a dark chest. The face is very light in color and speckled on the lower half. This fish isn’t only a pretty face, it serves a definite function as it will gladly consume hair algae, valonia, and red turf algae. A hardy fish, an adult Foxface can reach a size of approximately 8″.
It may reside in a 125 gallon or larger aquarium. Be sure to provide an environment that has plenty of space to swim and live rock that has algae so they can graze on it.
It is a very peaceful species except when housed with other rabbitfish. The Foxface Lo may be housed with more aggressive fish. Its predators will tend to leave it alone because of its venomous dorsal spines. If not given a proper diet they do have the tendency to nib on some soft corals.
Even though these fish enjoy a diverse type of frozen foods, it is imperative that its primary food, is algae based, thus ensuring that the fish`s immune system remains healthy. This can, for example, be plant based fish flakes, Nori seaweed or similar. Feed twice a day. Leave seaweed sheets on a veggie clip for all day grazing.
