The Twin Spot Wrasse (Coris Aygula) is also referred to as the Clown Coris, or Twinspot Coris.

The juvenile is silver with dark spots on the face. The dorsal fin has a pair of dark spots with yellow highlights on the body. The adult becomes blue-green with a white or light green band around the midsection. When courting, the male will display an increased color intensity. They have teeth that protrude from their mouth and are used to dig out prey from the sand.

It requires a 300 gallon or larger aquarium with a 2-3 inch layer of sand in which to bury itself. Have lots of good hiding places and thick sandy substrate. Wrasse are considered jumpers make sure your aquarium has a tight-fitting canopy or screen cover to prevent the Wrasse from jumping out of your aquarium.

A single male can be kept with a group of females that is introduced prior to or at the same time as the male. They can be kept with most fish that are too large for them to eat but may prey on shrimp and some crabs. Twin Spots are not reef safe. Most Coris Aygula do not actively feed on corals but may nip at some polyps. Twin Spots are active feeders during the day and hide at night in caves, among coral or in the sand. They also have a habit of picking up and overturning pieces of rock and rubble while searching for small crustaceans, worms and other prey underneath them and should not be kept with corals that are not firmly secured. They may also nip at inverts like feather dusters.

The Twin Spot Wrasse diet should include vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods along with a high quality marine flake and marine pellet food.
