Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby scientifically known as Stonogobiops Yasha. Other common names are Orange-striped shrimp goby, Yasha Haze Goby and Clown Shrimp Goby.
Stonogobiops Yasha is white in base coloration with a series of orange-red horizontal, broken stripes running the length of its body. A distinct black patch appears on the chin. Its eyes are orange, high-set and bulbous, and its mouth is comically oversized. In keeping with at least one of its common names, the first ray of this goby’s dorsal fin is highly elongated and white in color. Gobies are an excellent addition to reef aquariums as they have a small adult size and a lot of personality. The Yasha Shrimp Goby is one of the most beautiful nano gobies available and will only grow to be about 2".
They are known for creating a symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp. They can be seen sharing a burrow, which makes an awesome display.
It is best suited for aquariums that are 10 gallons or larger which have adequate hiding places. It prefers a bed of fine sand and loose coral rubble to move around and dig its burrow. You can also provide their tank with artificial burrows by putting the PVC pipe pieces in the tank. They are absolutely reef safe and easily adapted in reef tanks. The aquarium should have a tight-fitting lid to prevent this goby from jumping out.
Stonogobiops Yasha is a passive fish that should be housed only with equally peaceful piscine tankmates if any are included.
As far as reef-friendliness is concerned, Stonogobiops Yasha is exemplary, being completely inoffensive to sessile invertebrates and a threat only to minute motile invertebrates. Ideally this goby should be the first bottom dwelling goby added to the established aquarium, so the fish may stake out its territory before other more pugnacious gobies are added.
Feed the Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby a diet consisting of a variety of fresh or frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and table shrimp and it should be fed at least twice per day.
